A Wedding Anniversary & Residents Make Their Favourite Recipes

Resident and Husband Enjoying a Meal for Their Anniversary

At Mearns View we hosted a private dining event for our wonderful resident Andree. It was a romantic meal for two prepared by our head chef so that they could both celebrate this important date in their lives.

Andree and her husband David wore their best attire, ready for their romantic meal. The lunch menu consisted of Cream of Tomato Soup for the starter, Sweet and Sour Chicken with Rice for the main, and Eton Mess for dessert as chosen by Andree and David. The couple received an array of flowers and cards and both were delighted with the day, which we hope will be one to remember.

Andree was also generous enough to share a photo of them on their wedding day - wow don't they look like a lovely couple, then and now!

Our residents have been sharing their favourite recipes as they missed making meals in the kitchen so we brought the kitchen to them in one of our dining rooms.

They decided to take it upon themselves to recreate them with the help of our chefs who sourced the ingredients and the method. First up on the menu was Mackerel Pate.

Residents did an excellent job of making mackerel pate which was very nicely presented too. Residents are looking forward to their next cooking/baking session which will follow a similar format.

At Mearns View Care Home in East Renfrewshire, we adopt a person-centred care approach where we get to know our residents on a personal level and provide opportunities that enable them to pursue their hobbies, enhance their skills and gain new interests.

We provide a variety of activities using our facilities which are organised by our dedicated Activity Coordinators, who go above and beyond to ensure we cater to our residents' interests so that they can thrive in their environment.
