The staff and residents at Mearns View enjoyed Thankful Thursday in the sunshine for
Glad to Care Week. Some of the things that residents and staff are thankful for are:

  • Being happy
  • Being healthy

#GladtoCare Awareness Week is a celebration of care workers in the care industry. This year Glad to Care Awareness Week ran from 12th-16th June.

This dedicated week creates awareness among care home residents, staff, families, and the wider community about the incredible contributions and dedication of care workers. It shines a light on the compassion, expertise, and commitment exhibited by these individuals, who work tirelessly to enhance the lives of those in their care.

Glad to Care Awareness Week helps dispel misconceptions surrounding the care sector and promotes a positive image of care homes, fostering understanding and appreciation for the essential services they provide.

Many care homes, including Mearns View Care Home in Newton Mearns, have been partaking in different sessions and activities within the home, spreading awareness of our wonderful care workers.

This year’s #GladtoCare focuses on well-being is to introduce a well-being day, laughter yoga and a general feel-good mentality to the week. When we asked our residents what they were thankful for, the residents stated that they are thankful for their health and thankful that they are happy.

At Mearns View, we are thankful that we can share this wonderful weather with new colleagues and new friends in our new garden!
